Reach for Recovery Peer Support Program
The Reach to Recovery Program is a free service that provides information and support to anyone facing breast cancer through phone or one-on-one contact with breast cancer survivors and American Cancer Society volunteers. Reach to Recovery volunteers serve as role models. They are people who have survived breast cancer and who continue to live productive lives. Whenever possible, the program attempts to match the person with a volunteer who is similar in age and who has had a similar breast cancer experience.
Volunteers are trained to help people who are:
newly diagnosed with breast cancer
facing possible diagnosis of breast cancer
considering or who have had a lumpectomy or mastectomy
considering breast reconstruction
experiencing lymphedema
undergoing or who have completed treatment
facing breast cancer recurrence or advanced breast cancer
If you want to talk to a Reach for Recovery volunteer, call 1-800-ACS-2345, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
